As if claws had torn at his throat, Stoomflight sunk slowly to the ground, his eyes wide in disbelief as he stared at his paws. No! he thought, She can't be!

From beside the other cats, Rushpaw and Rowanpaw both let out shocked gasps, their tail tips twitching with anxiety in union.

Even though she hadn't been there long, Dappledshine felt like the very ground had fallen out from under her. Hollowstar! she thought, unsheathing her claws and gripping the earth tightly. I haven't known you for too long, but you were still one of my greatest friends!

"what? Youre lying!" Sparrowheart yowled, her eyes unbelieving and her voice trembling.

Leo padded over and sighed. "Why would he lie about something so important? Face it, your mother is missing." he said harshly.

Sandpaw sat next to Rowanpaw, bowing her head sadly.

Getting to his paws, Crookedleap bowed his head in mourning. "She will be missed," he mewed, then looked up to Foxstar. "Who will be the deputy then, Foxstar?"

(Hey, how many lives does Hollowstar have left, because this would be like when Pinestar left the clans, Sunstar only recieved eight lives because Pinestar still had his last life left when he went to be a kittypet.)

"I haven't decided" he said sadly.

Shadowfoot didn't budge. He was frozen, staring off into space. No smile filled his face now. "My... friend." His eyes glistenened with pain as he stood, and turned to walk out of the camp.

Halfmoon stood up, her eyes glazed with pain, yet determination still flashed within them. "Instead of mourning, we should be sending out search patrols." She meowed steadily.

"There has to be a way." She murmured.

Runningwater padded up next to Halfmoon "I agree. It wouldn't do much good." Her usually gentle, hushed tone of her voice was now cold and empty.

Pepperpaw: lies in the sun on her side, her paws kicked out in boredom.

Juniperkit: follows the path he left with his stick looking for a treasure he dropped.

RunningWater nodded, now getting rather teary "Yes. A-a vigil. That's exactly w-what we need."

Pepperpaw: looks up "Whats a vigil?" she asks

RunningWater smiled gently at Pepperpaw "It'll help us remember our good old Hollowstar."

Pepperpaw: tilts her head "why we got to remember momma?" she looks confused

Runningwater sighed "Would somebody ELSE like to explain why we're holding a vigil? I can't do this to the poor thing." she shook her head

Pepperpaw: sits up "what?" she frowns looking around "what you talking about?"

Halfmoon closed her eyes and bowed her head.

Stormpaw felt wobbly. He gripped the earth with his claws and clenched his teeth.

Pepperpaw: "But why does mommy need a vigil?" she frowns no understanding or maybe not wanting to understand.

Stormpaw nudged you gently. "She's gone." He meowed hoarsely.

Pepperpaw: dropps her tail against the ground, her ears droop slightly. "Gone where?"

Runningwater shrugged "We technically don't know, but where assuming to StarClan." she sighed gently.

Pepperpaw: pins her ears back against her head "Starclan?" she looks at her paws, shuffles the dirt around.
